What are mini dental implants?
While similar to “standard” implants in function, mini implants are about half their size. They are also structured differently than traditional implants; instead of three parts, mini implants are made from just two parts. This unique structure and smaller diameter offer several advantages for our patients compared to the typical implant.

How can mini implants be used?
Mini implants are incredibly versatile! They are appropriate to replace a single tooth as a conservative, tissue-preserving, and long-lasting alternative to dental bridges. Multiple teeth may be replaced with a dental bridge supported by mini implants. In as little as one hour, we can stabilize loose, full, or partial dentures with as few as four to six dental implants. Your dentures can then be fitted precisely and securely right over the implants. You leave the office with stable dentures that can be used effortlessly and naturally right away. We also offer a semi-removable bridge made of hybrid resin or zirconia. Using anywhere from six to ten mini implants, this bridge can be detached by Dr. Ferrari as needed during routine cleanings at our office. Lastly, a fixed roundhouse zirconia bridge uses between 10 and 12 implants and is cemented into place, so you no longer have to worry about your teeth moving or falling out.
What can I expect from treatment?
The process starts with a consultation. We’ll take full-mouth X-rays and provide you with information on any and all treatment and financing options. That way, you can make the most well-informed decision about your treatment. After you have made your decision, we move forward with treatment. Depending on your plan, this might include extracting or removing any remaining teeth that are beyond repair. Next, the implants are inserted in the least invasive way possible, and your new tooth (or teeth) is mounted immediately afterward. It’s possible to arrive at our office with a mouth full of missing teeth and leave with a brand new smile.
What can I expect after my treatment?
Mini implants minimize discomfort. You may feel some mild soreness at the treatment sites. Often, Ferrari Dental patients feel well enough to resume all of their usual activities within one or two days. It’s essential to take good care of your mouth, as the implants themselves are vulnerable to gum disease, such as inflammation. We can advise on good oral care products and cleaning techniques based on the type of mini-implant teeth you have.
