A quick and easy way to make tremendous improvements to a person’s smile is through composite bonding treatment. This simple procedure involves using tooth-colored resin to correct noticeable flaws and restore the function of teeth that have been damaged.
Composite bonding has many applications in dentistry, including:
- Filling cavities
- Repairing damaged and decayed teeth
- Making color adjustments
- Reducing gaps
- Correcting uneven spaces between teeth
- Adjusting tooth heights
- Fixing misshapen teeth
- Protecting tooth roots
Due to the simplicity of the procedure, composite bonding treatment can be completed in just one visit to our practice. The process starts by cleaning the tooth and determining the exact shade of resin that will be used. If there is any decay or deterioration present, it will be removed. Next, the composite material is applied to the tooth in multiple layers, and each layer is hardened individually using a dental curing light.
Once the desired thickness has been attained, the composite material will be allowed to fully harden until the tooth reaches the desired consistency. To complete the procedure, the tooth will be buffed and polished in order to provide it with a nice, even finish and a natural appearance. Once finished, the patient will be provided with special instructions on how to care for their composite bonding. With proper care, the bonding should last between five and ten years.
