Whether you come to us for a dental crown to replace a single damaged tooth or bridgework to replace multiple missing teeth, you can be sure that the Ferrari Dental team is ready to provide you with outstanding results.
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped structure that is placed at the site of a tooth that is lost or damaged in order to restore its appearance and function. We use porcelain dental crowns because of the material’s natural look and great functionality.
Patients receive dental crowns for many reasons, including:
- Strengthening damaged or weakened teeth
- Root canal treatment
- Improving the function of teeth
- Adjusting the appearance of teeth
- Correcting teeth that are misshapen
Since our porcelain dental crowns are custom built using impressions of the patient’s teeth, a patient must make two visits to our clinic in order to receive this type of treatment. During the first visit, the patient’s tooth will be prepped for a dental crown, and impressions of the tooth will be taken. The dental crown will be applied during the second visit.
The first step when receiving a dental crown is to shave off a portion of the designated tooth, allowing the dental crown to be properly fitted. Next, impressions of the tooth are taken, and the information is forwarded to a dental laboratory where a custom-designed dental crown will be built. The patient will receive a temporary restoration that is designed to last until their permanent dental crown is ready.
When the patient makes their second visit, the temporary restoration will be removed, and the permanent dental crown will be attached using a dental adhesive. After the process is finished, the patient will be provided with instructions on how to take care of their new dental crown.
Also called partial dentures, dental bridges are recommended when a patient is missing multiple teeth. A dental bridge is comprised of natural-looking prosthetic teeth that are supported by natural teeth that are still inside the mouth. Depending upon the type of dental bridge, they can either be removable or permanently attached inside the mouth.
Permanently-attached dental bridges, or fixed bridges, are held in place using one of two methods. The first method involves directly bonding the dental bridge to adjacent supporting teeth. Dental bridges can also be applied on top of supporting structures (implants), essentially making them a series of dental crowns. Removable bridges use metal clasps or precision attachments to keep them securely in place at all times, even while talking or eating. The user can easily take out their removable bridge for cleaning purposes and then quickly reinsert it into their mouth.
