Custom-fit veneers are highly effective in making immediate improvements to a person’s smile. They consist of wafer-like shells that are placed over the surface of one’s teeth in order to correct noticeable flaws and enhance their appearance. Since veneers are incredibly simple and versatile, they are quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments available.
Veneers offer a wide variety of cosmetic dental applications, including:
- Color adjustments
- Correcting misshapen or crooked teeth
- Repairing damaged or chipped teeth
- Adjusting the size of teeth
Because of their ultra-thin design, veneers are virtually invisible to others, providing the full appearance of healthy, white tooth enamel. Since they are built using stain-resistant materials, veneers are not prone to discolorations caused by tobacco products or beverages such as coffee and wine. With proper care, veneers should last for up to ten years. Ferrari Dental offers porcelain and composite veneers, as well as the Lumineers brand of veneers.
Since veneers are custom-built using impressions of the patient’s teeth, two visits to our clinic are required to have veneers installed. The first step is to shave off some of the enamel of the designated teeth to make space for the veneers. Next, impressions of the teeth are taken, and an exact coloring is determined. This information is then sent to a dental laboratory where a custom set of veneers will be built. To hold the patient over while their custom veneers are being constructed, they will be fitted with a temporary restoration.
The patient will return for their second visit after their custom veneers have been assembled. The teeth designated for treatment will be thoroughly cleaned and have their surfaces roughened with etching gel. This is done so that the new veneers can bond properly. Next, the veneers will be applied over the surface of the teeth and secured using a dental adhesive. After it is ensured that they have been properly attached, the patient will be provided with instructions on how to care for their new veneers.
